The Red Gill Bistro: A Unique Dining Experience in Jacksonville

Great food, Charlie the bartender/waiter was great and personable. Food was outstanding, I had the fried fish with collard greens and Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was basic but good with the blend of cheese used. The collards were seasoned as I would expect collards to be in a soul food restaurant. The fish was outstanding, perfectly breaded and cooked. The only issue we had was they add a 13 percent tip which wouldn't be a problem but because the payment was on an electronic device, we didn't see a breakdown until after the payment. There was also a service fee, not sure what that was for but in all we ended up tipping on a service fee and the 13 percent an additional 20 percent since we didn't realize those were already there. Now that I know, I can adjust accordingly. I do recommend them, but be aware of the additions.

I recently heard about this place and had to try it and I have to say, the decor was absolutely adorable! The space was full of charm, with a whimsical bubble snow machine that added a fun, festive touch to the atmosphere. It really set a cozy, magical vibe. The food prices were surprisingly reasonable, and everything we ordered was tasty. However, the fries were a bit of a letdown—they were very salty, almost to the point of being overwhelming. That said, the rest of the dishes were delicious and well-seasoned. The drinks, though, were quite good but definitely on the pricier side. While they were well-crafted and enjoyable, they might not be the best option if you're watching your budget. Overall, it’s a great spot for a fun atmosphere, good food, and tasty drinks, though you might want to skip the overly salty fries!

We had a fun time here a couple of days before Christmas. We saw the ads for the Santa Pop Up night here and wanted to experience it. The place was packed when we got there, but we had reservations and were seated right away. The place was decorated top notch for the holidays. Even an electric Santa greeted us at the entrance! The ambiance was a warm holiday spirit with high energy! Great music! Laughter and happiness. My kind of place. There was a special Santa Pop Up menu with drinks and eats specially created for the evening event. I ordered the Sipping Santa, and my daughter ordered the Secret Santa drink. Both were delicious. We also ordered a couple of special appetizers: Teriyaki Pineapple Meatballs and the Cream Cheese Wontons with Sauce. Ohhh, so good! The server was great also. For those who look for IG photo opps, there was a special room for that. Red Gill had rented blown up Christmas characters for their customers to do photo opps with. Great idea, and we did it! Loved it! Parking is in their free parking lot right next to the building. We look forward to going back on our next trip!

We drive from Ontario to Florida, this is the first day we arrive in Florida, and we are looking forward to tasting the sea food. This is a pretty beautiful restaurant, as Hawaii style I think. We eat two lobsters and several crab legs here, the price is acceptable. The sauce on the sea food tastes very delicious!

Been here a couple times now and loved each visit! Got to see the Sippin Santa pop up hosted here and wow was it impressive! Great food, drinks, and most importantly, staff! Everyone would stop and ask if we needed anything, regardless of who our actual server was. Had a great time and looking forward to going back again and again!

The food was amazing EVERY DAY! And don’t get me started on the service! I wish I could remember the names of the three people that helped us during our 4 day stay. Please don’t take these descriptions wrong, it’s the only way I can think to make sure the right people get the credit!! Tuesday night a black woman probably mid 30’s helped us (9pm or so)! She was so personable and made sure everything was super fresh! Thursday night we came in around 8:45-9pm and a light skinned guy with curly hair helped us! He was funny, attentive and just genuinely loved his job! We really appreciated him! There was also a white woman there with brown/blondish hair who was super helpful!!!! They all were amazing and because of them, this is where we will be staying again when we come back next month!!

We had an AMAZING time at their Sippin Santa pop up bar! Laura was an exceptional host for our evening who made perfect drink recommendations and always made sure we had exactly what we needed to enjoy our evening. We will definitely be back soon (and will be showing this place off to our friends!)
